2023 “Countdown” Treatment for Space Coast Office of Tourism

Thank you for considering me for your upcoming project.

Being in nature and photographing the landscape is something I truly enjoy. I love finding a way to enable the viewer to not just see a beautiful landscape, but to feel what it’s like to be there themselves—to personally connect to a place. Often, this means photographing something ordinary with a new perspective or finding a special time of day to take the photos. It also means looking hard and keeping an open mind for the unexpected. This is usually how I find my best landscape photos. This approach will help ensure in every photo that Florida’s Space Coast offers beauty, relaxation, and adventure for the whole family.

Our Vision + Goal: Our desire is to bring to life, through photography, &Barr’s creative direction to make the Space Coast shine. We will strive for moments that encapsulate the adventure of the surf and sea life, the beauty of the sprawling coast, and the excitement of space exploration. Our vision is for the viewer of these photos to feel an emotional connection to Florida’s Space Coast and feel inspired to experience it for themselves.

Approach: It’s always my goal to find the special moments. The outcome is a photo library that will feel spontaneous, beautiful, natural, and intimate. This is our goal for every shot during this photo project. For landscape photos, sometimes it takes intricate pre-planning for weather, light, and atmosphere to ensure this outcome. This is how I intend to approach the shoot as a whole to capture the landscapes that make the Space Coast shine.

Location Scouting: I will scout the top locations before the shoot to ensure they are a good fit for the creative direction. While there, I’ll be able to scope out specific angles, plan for lighting, and look for places that offer good opportunities to shoot multiple angles. This will help the photo shoot run smoothly and allow time to photograph anything spontaneous that occurs.

Lighting: The light will feel warm and inviting. For landscape photography, it is imperative to photograph each location based on how it looks and feels at certain times of the day, based on light. I will be prepared to shoot each location when it looks best—sunrise, sunset, and any time in between.

Shoot Workflow: We will always begin with a hero shot for each location, but I am purposefully conscious of other moments and photos that happen organically throughout the day or directly after a specific shot. I will stick close to the schedule, while also leaving some margin for new discoveries.
